BIO
Sidney Ho (b. 1989) is a contemporary artist from Toronto who is known for his expressive charcoal portraits. Sidney blends gestural abstraction and realism to give voice to the turmoil threaded through his body of work. His portraits capture the push-pull tension between connection and identity. With a background in creative writing, Sidney weaves a tapestry of techniques into his practice, using elements like pastel, conté, oil paint, watercolour, and ink to create sweeping visual narratives that lay bare the emotional bones of each piece. His work invites viewers to linger on a central question: When the mind has been sold for convenience, will you remember the heart?
