Sidney Ho (b. 1989) is a Toronto artist whose expressive charcoal portraits are carved from the clash between gestural abstraction and figurative realism. His practice captures the push-pull tension between connection and identity, defined by a refusal to fully render the form, wresting figures from a chaos of charcoal, pastel, conté, oil paint, and ink.
